Villa Dionisia

"Initially I wanted to make a portrait of a house (my grandmother Dionisia's house) and of places that, for me, evoked the idea of childhood and "summer holidays" in the mountains (Puigcerdà, Catalan Pyrenees). I soon realised that, by filming my children's childhood, I was also filming my own childhood and perhaps that of other people. The present was linked to the past and the tone was elegiac: the end of summer and the end of childhood. After the film was finished, I gradually discovered other layers of meaning. For example, the relationships between the exterior and interior and projections of light and shadow. Villa Dionisia as a photo-cinematographic camera-house in which the lights, colours and shadows of the exterior landscape enter and vibrate. Most of the editing was done in the camera while filming. This video version is somewhat different from the initial Super 8 film version". Juan Bufill
