What is a Woman II, Su Friedrich and Gunvor Nelson

Sue Friedrich and Gunvor Nelson are essential authors in the panorama of international experimental cinema. They both manage to make cinema in which form and content reach perfect equilibrium. The content of the two works has in common the subjects of memory/family and the feminine identity seen from the lens of psychoanalysis. Sink or Swim explores Friedrich's biography in relation to her lesbian identity. Red Shift deals with how femininity is born and inherited between generations of women from the same family.
