Carlos Saldaña

Film preservationist and curator. He graduated as a Fulbright Student in the Moving Image Archiving and Preservation MA at New York University and has coordinated digitization projects of 16mm and Super 8 works during his studies at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. He completed archival training internships at the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Cinemateca Portuguesa, Third World Newsreel, the Center for Puertorican Studies, and Archivo José Val del Omar. Currently, he is a Film Conservation Fellow at Filmoteca de Catalunya. Since 2020, he works with Francisco Algarín Navarro at the cultural non-profit Lumière, where he has coedited five books. He is also the editor, with Manuel Asín, of Frans van de Staak. La palabra en archipiélago / The Word As Archipelago (Ediciones Comisura, 2025). He is a member of the programming team at Xcèntric-CCCB since 2021, and has curated film screenings and series at venues in Spain, Italy and the United States, including MoMA, Anthology Film Archives, Filmoteca de Cataluña, Filmoteca Española, and the Museum of the Moving Image. He also shoots 16mm film and was the cinematographer for You Never Did Anything Wrong (Nan Goldin, 2024, 16mm loop).
