After making a movie in the US about a family of Mexican immigrants, Uman received harsh criticism according to which she could not identify with the protagonists of her film since she had never been in a similar situation. That pushed her to emigrate to a small town in Ukraine where her ancestors came from. In The Unnamed Film, Uman documents with her 16mm Bolex camera and her personal style the daily activities of the inhabitants of this town.
