Emak Bakia

In this film, Man Ray pioneered the technique of cameraless cinematography, in which lengths of film are exposed to light after covering them with pins, salt grains and other objects of common use. With his mischievous use of diverse materials – animation, non-objective forms, rayograms and optically fragmented and unfocused images – Emak Bakia is still fresh and inspiring us almost 80 years after it was made.
