Dog Star Man: Prelude

Dog Star Man it is nothing less than an abstract vision of the creation of the universe, an epic work consisting of a prelude and four parts. Trying to summarise Dog Star Man in a few words would only undermine the aesthetic incursions of the film. A forester and his dog slowly climb the Flatiron Mountains in Colorado. The argument is not always clear, but Brakhage's message is: nature, light, mountain and sun make up the inner cosmos of humanity as they form the outer world. In it we can see a fascinating mosaic of images combined to "interpret" the creation of the universe.
