Michel Auder

In 1969, after buying one of the first Sony video cameras to go on sale, Michel Auder embarked on a long chronicle of portraits and voyeuristic diaries of the New York art scene. Married to Viva, one of Warhol’s stars, some of his films offer an intimate portrait of Warhol and the Factory. Edited in 1994, 20 years after it was filmed, when Auder was living with Viva and their newborn daughter at the Chelsea Hotel, Chelsea Girls with Andy Warhol shows Warhol’s relations with his actresses and the people at the Factory by in a variety of scenes and chapters: a raw and hilarious phone conversation between Warhol and Viva and Brigid Berlin, a summer party at Lennon and Yoko Ono’s house, the opening of the “Andy Warhol” show at the Whitney Museum, and an interview with the artist by Larry Rivers at the Factory. This programme is organized jointly with Blackie Books, to coincide with publication of the book Andy Warhol. Entrevistas.
