The last frame of chapter 2A in Godard's Histoire(s) du Cinéma, entitled "Seul le cinéma", is taken from a sequence in Talking to Strangers by Rob Tregenza. This is Godard's tribute to a film and to a filmmaker in whom he placed his hopes for the present of the cinema. Tregenza's first film (he was later to work as director of photography on Les harmonies Werckmeister by Bela Tarr) contains nine sequence shots that follow the various meetings of a young writer in search of inspiration as he makes his way around the city of Baltimore.
