Film critic and historian

Guillermo Triguero

He studied Audiovisual Communication at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and then did a Master's degree in Contemporary Film Studies at the Pompeu Fabra University, where he chose slapstick as the theme for his Master's thesis, as a point of union between vaudeville and the screwball comedies of the 1930s. His main area of interest is the history of cinema, especially the classical era seen from a critical perspective and, above all, the silent era of film from its beginnings to the transition to talkies. Since 2009 he's written every week on his film review website El gabinete del Doctor Mabuse and on his site dedicated exclusively to silent films, El testamento del Doctor Caligari. In 2018 he published a book entitled The Room, un desastre fílmico convertido en obra de culto (Editorial Hermenaute) and in 2020 collaborated on the official book for the Molins de Rei Horror Festival, La naturaleza se rebela. He writes monthly for the magazine Versión Original and has also contributed to Caimán, Cuadernos de Cine and the website Transit.
