(1927 - 2017) Was a filmmaker, musician, violin-maker, artist and sculptor. In the late 1960s he became well known for his sexually charged, voyeuristic films, investigating the follies of the bourgeois behind closed doors. Hysterical, cruel and technically radical, Zwartjes has inspired internationally a generation of filmmakers and musicians with his strikingly original and defiantly independent practice.
