Kira Muratova

Originally called ??? ??? ???????: ???? ???????, ?????? ??????? (Two More Stories: One Simple, the Other More Complex), Muratova's most recent film consists of two stories connected by the adage, ‘the show must go on'. The first part takes place in a theatre where a play is being rehearsed in the presence of the corpse of an actor who's committed suicide, while the second shows the play itself. Often compared to Nikolai Gogol, this veteran filmmaker once again shows us her tragicomic universe along with careful camerawork.
