Artist and professor

Vítor Magalhães

Artist and professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Madeira. Doctorate in Aesthetics and Theory of Art / Audiovisual Communication at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Faculty of Fine Arts of Cuenca. Author of the book Poetics of Interruption (Madrid, Trama Editorial, 2008), Writings on Art Award 2007, Fundación Arte y Derecho.

The themes and methodologies that go through the development of his artistic projects and research are: linked memory processes to a quasi-archaeological and critical methodology of the modes of representation; the voice-time as a disruptive practice of languages; the transnarrative devices of the image; the paradoxical relationships between image and text; or the diagrammatic conceptual praxis in contemporary art.
