Filmmaker, writer, teacher and curator of experimental cinema and artists' video

Albert Alcoz

(Barcelona, 1979). PhD in Film and Media Studies for the University Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona. He teaches cinema at the University of Barcelona (Fine Arts). His work focuses on the convergence between experimental film practice, visual arts and sound. Since 2005, he has been making movies in film formats (Super 8, 16 mm), some of which are distributed by Hamaca or available for viewing at the Xcèntric Archive. In 2013, together with Alberto Cabrera Bernal, he launched the Angular project, a DVD publishing company specializing in international experimental cinema. He has taken part in several audiovisual platforms devoted to cinematographic production, exhibiting and analysis, including the websites Venusplutón! and Blogs&Docs, Found Footage Magazine, Laboratorio Reversible and the film screening seasons Amalgama, Cinema Anèmic and CRANC. Since May 2006 he has been contributing to the website Visionary Film, devoted to avant-garde cinema and contemporary experimental cinema. He has written the books Resonancias fílmicas. El sonido en el cine estructural (1960-1981) (Shangrila, 2017) and Radicales libres. 50 películas esenciales del cine experimental (Editorial UOC, 2019).
