In “Strawberry Pudding”, a fly is living happily inside a toilet. Flying his helicopter, he goes in search of new sources of energy. Canned food doesn’t attract his attention. Suddenly, he’s drawn to a delicious strawberry pudding but eventually falls into the epicentre of a conflict. Made from sheets of newspaper and layers of acetate film, “Strawberry Pudding” is a collage interspersed with text, photographs, drawings and scenes from soap operas - a very popular audiovisual genre in Brazil. The newspaper headlines refer to a problematic situation for the country at the time; the social and political conflicts of Brazil’s civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985). This film was included in the list of the 100 best Brazilian animated films, chosen by the Brazilian Association of Film Critics (ABRACCINE) and in the book Animação Brasileira: 100 filmes essenciais, launched at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2018.
